So much hot air is spoken about what a healthy diet consists of these days. And most of emanates from people with underlying attitudes, with an urge to steer the general population in a particular direction (veganism).
Commonsense suggests the most intelligent course is to eat moderate amounts of good quality, sustainably produced food from as wide a variety of sources as possible, and as unprocessed as possible.
Today’s paper reported on findings of the Global Burden of Disease Study.
In summary:
- Australians have the 3rd highest life expectancy in the world
- Australians rank 2nd in regard to living the fewest years in a very sick state before death
And according to many other sources, such as The Economist, Australia ranks 3rd for meat consumption.
Yet we’re bombarded daily with media releases insisting meat consumption is deadly. Hmmm, doesn’t really add up, does it?
